Pemerintah Kota Padang mendukung penuh komitmen Kepala Kepolisian Daerah (Kapolda) Sumatera Barat (Sumbar) Irjen Pol Gatot Tri Suryanta, dalam memberantas aktivitas tawuran dan balap liar di wilayah hukum Sumatera Barat, termasuk Kota Padang.
Hal ini disampaikan Penjabat (Pj) Wali Kota Andree Algamar kepada wartawan, sewaktu mendampingi Kapolda Sumbar dan jajaran melakukan monitoring ke sejumlah titik yang kerap dijadikan arena balap liar dan tawuran di Kota Padang, Sabtu (18/1/2025) malam hingga Minggu (19/1/2025) dini hari.
Andree mengatakan, tawuran dan balap liar harus dicegah sampai ke akar-akarnya. Selain sangat mengganggu keamanan dan ketertiban di tengah masyarakat, juga telah banyak menelan korban bahkan hingga kematian.
“Kita telah melakukan serangkaian upaya untuk mencegah aksi tawuran dan balap liar di Kota Padang. Termasuk menjalin sinergitas bersama Polri dan TNI serta elemen terkait di Kota Padang,” ujarnya. —rchrd
