PESSEL INVESTIGASI_Banjir dan Tanah Longsor yang menimpa Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan pada 7 h 8 Maret kemarin menimbulkan kerusakan diberbagai hal, seperti pasilitas umum, permukiman warga masyarakat dan lahan pertanian.
Kunjungan kerja menteri PUTR berberapa waktu lalu mengatakan sebab terjadi banjir dan tanah longsor yang melanda Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan bisa disebabkan dua kemudian, yaitu intensitas hujan yang berlebihan dan ilegal logging.
Dari sisi lain, ada juga berpandangan disebabkan oleh pembukaan lahan pertanian yang secara masif dilakukan oleh warga masyarakat setempat.
Ketua DPRD Pessel Ermizen mengatakan, Hal itu tidak bisa dipungkiri, seiring dengan pertumbuhan penduduk akan berdampak pada lingkungan. Pertumbuhan penduduk mengakibatkan terjadinya penyempitan lahan dan menyempitnya lapangan pekerjaan.
” Salah satu dampak dari pertumbuhan penduduk adalah terjadinya penyempitan lahan. Seperti penyempitan area pemukiman, penyempitan lahan pertanian dan perkebunan, ” katanya.
Maka alternatif lain akan dilakukan oleh masyarakat yaitu membuka lahan baru atau melakukan perluasan lahan. Perluasan tersebut dilakukan dalam bentuk permbukaan tempat pemukiman, pembukaan lahan baru pertanian dan area perkebunan.
Hutan merupakan alternatif satu-satunya untuk mewujudkan itu. Kebablasannya masyarakat dalam mengeksploitasi hutan tanpa kontrol berdampak pada kerusakan lingkungan.
Akibat dari kerusakan lingkungan tersebut akan merugikan masyarakat itu sendiri. Maka jelaslah kerusakan lingkungan itu terjadi ulah tangan manusia itu sendiri.
” Eksploitasi hutan yang berlebihan akan berdampak pada kerusakan lingkungan dan ditambah lagi dengan maraknya ilegal logging di Pesisir Selatan sudah berdampak buruk pada lingkungan secara berkelanjutan. Maka dibutuhkan keseriusan kita untuk melakukan reboisasi terhadap hutan. Sesungguhnya, butuh waktu yang lama untuk memulihkan lingkungan, ” ujarnya. (Don)
