Sejak diusulkan pengesahan pengangkatan Gubernur dan Wakil Sumbar tertuang dalam Surat Keputusan (SK) DPRD Sumbar bernomor : 5/SB/2021 tentang usul pengesahan pengangkatan pasangan Gubernur Mahyeldi dan Wakil Gubernur Audy Joynaldi terpilih. Dan, dilantik oleh Presiden Joko Widodo pada 25 April 2021, serta merta terjadi kekosongan jabatan Walikota Padang.
Sebelum dilantik jadi Gubernur Sumbar, Mahyeldi merupakan Walikota Padang bersama Wakilnya Hendri Septa. Lalu, ditengah perjalanan mencalonkan diri menjadi Gubernur dan Wakil Gubernur bersama Audy Joynaldi. Pasangan diusung Partai PKS dan PPP, akhirnya memenangkan Pilgub Sumbar 2021.
Kursi Walikota Padang ditinggal Mahyeldi, diisi oleh Hendri Septa menjadi orang nomor satu di Kota Bingkuang. Sebelumnya, Mahyeldi dan Hendri Septa bertarung pada Pilwako Padang 2019. Pasangan PKS dan PAN itu mengalahkan pasangan Emzalmi-Desri Ayunda. Tanggal 7 April 2021, Hendri Septa resmi dilantik Gubernur Sumbar, Mahyeldi menjadi Walikota Padang sisa masa jabatan 2019 – 2024.
Persoalanpun muncul, tragedi politik pun terjadi. Sejak dilantik jadi Walikota, kursi Wakil Walikota jadi kosong. Sudah memasuki delapan bulan, belum ada tanda tanda jabatan Wakil Walikota akan diisi. Politik tingkat tinggi dan strategi menyongsong Pilkada 2024, menyertai kekosongan tersebut. Disamping nyaman jadi jomblo, kesepakatan dua Partai Pengusung PKS dan PAN, masih misteri.
Persoalan ini juga pernah terjadi pada Pemilihan Gubernur (Pilgub) DKI Jakarta 2017. Pasangan Anis Baswedan – Sandiaga Uno mengalahkan pasangan incumbent Basuki T Purnama dan Djarot Saiful Hidayat. Dalam perjalanan Sandi mengundurkan diri pada sidang paripurna, Senin (27/8). Pengunduran diri, disebabkan mendampingi Prabowo Subiantoro pada Pemilihan Presiden 2019.
Jabatan Wakil Gubernur pun jadi kosong. Bahkan, lebih setahun Anis jomblo memimpin Ibu Kota itu. Alasan Gerindra Partai Pengusung Anis dan Sandi, sibuk mempersiapkan diri pada Pilpres. Setahun berlalu, akhirnya jabatan Wakil Gubernurpun terisi. Meski, sarat intrik politik, Ahmad Riza Patria memenangkan pemilihan Wakil Gubernur yang digelar DPRD DKI Jakarta, Senin (6/4/2020)
Kekosongan jabatan Wakil Walikota Padang, belum terisi juga sarat intrik politik. Dua partai pengusung, masih terlibat perang dingin. Bahkan, berimbas pada pergantian pejabat lama semasa Mahyeldi jadi Walikota. Sekda Kota Padang, Amasrul mengundurkan diri dan dibawa ke provinsi. Karena berseberangan dengan Walikota Hendri Septa. Perang dingin dua partai pengusung PKS dan PAN tak kunjung berakhir.
Kisruh Pilgub Sumbar 2021 pun mempengaruhi. Partai diluar partai pengusung juga memainkan peran. Persaingan Pilkada 2024, menjalani alasan menikmati jomblo. Ujung ujungnya warga jadi korban. Demi Kota Padang, mari kesampingkan ego. Kompleknya permasalahan, Kota Padang butuh wakil. Agar persoalan yang terjadi bisa terselesaikan. Apalagi Covid19 butuh penanganan bersama. Bukankah bersama kita bisa.
