Rekam jejak Letjen TNI Doni Monardo tak usah diragukan lagi. Sosok yang keras dan tegas ini, sekarang dipercaya menjadi Ketua Umum DPP Persatuan Purnawirawan TNI AD (PPAD) masa bhakti 2021 – 2026. Ia juga pernah dipercaya menjadi Ketua Pelaksana Gugus Tugas Percepatan Penanganan Covid19.  Lulusan Akademi Militer (Akmil) 1985 ini, karier militernya banyak menghabiskan di Kesatuan Kopassus. 

Di Koprs Baret Merah ini, ia pernah bertugas di Timor Timur dan Aceh. Karier terus menanjak naik, selanjutnya Doni masuk Korps Baret Biru alias Pasukan Pengamanan Presiden (Paspampres). Dari Paspamres, ia dipromosikan dan menjabat Komandan Korem 061 Surya Kencana Bogor. Setelah itu, dipercaya sebagai Wadanjen Kopassus.

Namanya melambung tercatat sebagai wakil komandan satuan tugas pembebasan sandera di Kapal MB Sinar Kudus yang dibajak perompak Somalia. 25 Juli 2012, Doni dipromosikan sebagai Komandan Paspamres. Melihat rekam jejak Doni Monardo yang mumpuni itu, diyakini ditanganya pembangunan Sumbar makin bergerak cepat. Apalagi, ia punya hubungan yang kuat ke pusat.

Tak kalah mentrengnya Benny Utama yang sekarang menjadi Bupati Kabupaten Pasaman. Kariernya pun melejit kencang, seiring berbagai prestasi yang diraihnya. Riwayat karier yang mumpuni, kerja keras dan cerdas pondasi baginya untuk membangun Kabupaten Pasaman. Ia juga pernah menjalani karier sebagai seorang jaksa dibeberapa daerah dan provinsi.

Seperti Bukittinggi, Jambi, Muaro Bungo, Banda Aceh, Bogor dan Mataram. Wakil  Bupati Pasaman (2009-2010), Bupati Pasaman (2010-2015), anggota DPRD Sumbar (2019 – 2020), Bupati Pasaman (2021-2024). Pengalaman organisasi pun tak diragukan lagi. Menjadi anggota MPK KNPI Sumbar, Ketua KNPI Kabupaten Pasaman, Ketua Wantim Pemuda Pancasila Kabupaten Pasaman, Ketua Wanhat AMPI Kabupaten Pasaman.

Ketua Wanhat AMPG dan KPPG Kabupaten Pasaman, Penasehat PORBI Sumbar. Juga dipercaya Ketua KONI Kabupaten Pasaman, Ketua BNK Kabupaten Pasaman, Ketua Pengda PSSI Sumbar dan Ketua DPF Partai Golkar Kabupaten Pasaman.
