Randai merupakan kesenian teatrikal yang berasal dari Minangkabau, provinsi Sumatera Barat. Randai merupakan kesenian yang komplek karena terdiri dari beberapa unsur seni yaitu seni teater/ sastra, seni musik tradisional, seni tari dan juga seni beladiri silat atau bisa disebut dengan silek di daerah Minangkabau.
Serda Andri mengatakan Randai dipimpin oleh satu orang yang biasa disebut panggoreh, yang mana selain ikut serta bergerak dalam legaran ia juga memiliki tugas yaitu mengeluarkan teriakan khas misalnya hep tah tih yang tujuannya untuk menentukan cepat atau lambatnya tempo gerakan seiring dengan dendang atau Gurindam.
