PADANG–INVESTIGASI, Menyikapi persoalan pengolahan sampah di daerah ini, Penjabat (Pj) Wali Kota Padang Andree Algamar mengeluarkan Surat Edaran Nomor: 600.4/1189/DLH-PDG/2024 terkait tanggung jawab badan usaha terhadap upaya pengurangan atau pengolahan sampah dari usaha atau kegiatan itu sendiri.
Dalam surat edaran yang ditandatangani 9 Oktober 2024 tersebut, Andree Algamar menjelaskan bahwa setiap badan usaha di Kota Padang diwajibkan untuk melakukan upaya pengurangan atau pengolahan sampah yang dihasilkan dari usaha atau kegiatan sendiri.
“Upaya tersebut dilakukan secara mandiri atau bekerjasama dengan lembaga pengelolaan sampah,” ungkapnya.
Ia menambahkan, setiap badan usaha kini dapat menentukan cara pengurangan dan pengolahan sampah yang sesuai dengan kapasitas usaha mereka. Dalam tahap persiapan.
Dijelaskan, penting untuk dilakukan sosialisasi kepada konsumen, seperti melalui poster dan banner untuk mengajak masyarakat mengurangi sampah dan memilih produk ramah lingkungan.
“Pengurangan sampah dapat dilakukan melalui beberapa langkah, seperti menggunakan kemasan makanan dari bahan alami dan mengurangi penggunaan plastik sekali pakai. Selain itu, badan usaha juga berupaya mendaur ulang sampah untuk mengurangi bahan plastik seperti menggunakan botol kaca dan peralatan makan dari stainless steel untuk mengurangi limbah,” ujarnya.
Andree Algamar mengatakan, pengolahan sampah sisa makanan pun menjadi fokus utama untuk mengadopsi metode pengomposan guna mengolah sisa makanan menjadi pupuk alami.
“Melalui program tanggung jawab sosial perusahaan (CSR), banyak perusahaan berkolaborasi berkerja sama dengan pemerintah untuk meningkatkan pengelolaan sampah,” pungkas dia.
